Set up round-trip label checkout

Round-trip checkout combines outbound and return labels in one customer journey — common for rentals, judging kits, and event gear that must go out and come back.
When to use round-trip
- The same package (or matched presets) travels both directions
- You want one payment / one session instead of two separate links
- You need predictable packaging both ways
Requirements
- Portals plan features for round-trip
- Clear outbound destination and return destination
- Presets that work for both legs (or separate presets per leg if supported)
- Automation / portal package limits for both directions
Setup steps
- Create a round-trip portal flow.
- Define the outbound ship-to (event, customer, or warehouse) and the return-to address.
- Attach presets and rules for each leg.
- Preview both label purchases end-to-end.
- Publish and share the link in confirmation emails or onboarding docs.
Customer experience
- Customer opens the round-trip link.
- Completes outbound details and sees outbound rates.
- Completes return details and sees return rates.
- Pays for the combined (or sequenced) checkout your portal presents.
- Downloads both label PDFs and your packing instructions.
Operational tips
- Label PDFs clearly: “OUTBOUND” vs “RETURN”
- Put the return label in the box when you fulfill outbound yourself
- Align due-back dates with carrier transit on the return leg
- Document void/refund messaging if customers buy too early
Troubleshooting
- Only one leg rates → check rules and addresses for the failing direction
- Lost return PDF → reprint from portal order history if available; avoid buying a duplicate without voiding
